Onshore Completion
Canadians are innovative in applying new technologies to well completions. These advances are due to Canada's technically challenging reservoirs, such as:
- unconsolidated sands in heavy oil fields
- ultra-low permeability gas sands
- thin, light oil pools with bottom water and/or gas caps
- deep, high pressure reservoirs
In overcoming these challenges, Canadians have become leaders in the development of completion technologies including:
- perforating technology
- sand screens and other sand control techniques
- high rate and volume fracturing technology
- multi-lateral tie-back systems
- coiled tubing technology
- casing drilling and completion techniques
- intelligent completion technologies
- expandable technologies
Coiled tubing is one of the fastest growing completion technologies in Western Canada's well service industry. New tubing tools and improved metallurgy have increased the reliability and availability of a wide range of sizes of coiled tubing.
